Why are we called  Bridgend Street ?

Bridgend Street was a residential street based in Splott and was situated off Portmanmoor Road which was a long road full of shops, pubs, off licences and houses. It was a vibrant area to say the least.

In 1973 the decision was made to demolish many streets as part of the council's regeneration of the area. Hundreds of houses were knocked down which split a very close knit community. Sadly Bridgend Street was one of the affected streets. In the street there was a hall called Bridgend Street Mission which was an outlet for many activities and sporting ventures hence the football team name which we have proudly carried forward. The club is over 100 years old.

Ironically there is only one remaining original building left on Portmanmoor Road ...... The Fleurs which is of course our home base.
